Lying in Wait

Two ravens
Like standing decorations
Ruefully resting upon
A streetlight pole,
Appearing an upright fishhook
Watching while
White and black.
And colorful sirens
Speed freely past
Like small mirrors
Racing towards a
Freely teeming street.
Looking a newspaper stand
After a passing hurricane
While watchers wait and
Wonder whether coppers and ambulances
Will be able to help
Trapped victims,
Like a fenced animal
Appearing a lonely star in a colorless sky
